How do I even have time to write this?

12:00 M wakes up, needs feeding. E also wants lunch. I nurse M for a while and edit on laptop, stalling E.
12:15 I set M down for a quick break, make E lunch. I sit back down to nurse and edit.
12:45 E is saying "all done" and throwing food on floor. I take another break to get him down and clean.
1:00 M is finally done nursing. I change her and E's diapers.
1:15 I swaddle M and get her ready for nap. Then I hold her while E and I dance to the music on his refrigerator magnet farmyard. We kick our feet and spin circles. Miraculously, M falls asleep.
1:30 I put M in the swing in my bedroom. E and I retire to his room with a stack of books. But first, he needs another diaper change.
2:00 I put E down for his nap. I breathe a sigh of relief, and think, "Time for lunch!" I close his door, and hear a cry from my bedroom.... Didn't I just feed her?
2:01 I grab a few snacks and the laptop, so that I can eat and edit while nursing M.
2:45 M is done nursing and I am all caught up on the most urgent of my projects. M starts to fuss. She needs a diaper change.
2:46 I realize I left all her diapers in E's room, and am certain he'll wake if I go in there...
2:47 I remember there is one diaper left in her size in the diaper bag. Whew!
2:49 M's diaper is changed and I'm admiring her cute baby face.
2:55 I lay M in the bouncy seat and grab the broom to sweep up 2.5 days' worth of mess under the dining table. I do this because today E has started picking stuff up and eating it... or at least putting it in his mouth until he realizes it's hard and dry and gross...
2:58 M starts to fuss.
3:00 M starts to fuss loudly. I rock her a bit, then realize she needs another change. Ok.
3:01 I venture into E's room on tiptoe, praying he'll sleep through the sound of the door opening and his sister's screams from across the hall. He does.
3:02 I change M's diaper.
3:03 I rock M and offer her today's model of the pacifier, hoping she'll take it (she doesn't). I think, I need to go to the bank, and buy diapers. When can I do that? Maybe after E's nap. What time does the bank close?
3:04 M spits up. A lot. It's on her face, down her arm, down my arm, down her shirt, on the burp cloth, on the floor... so much spit up! I clean while she cries. We walk and rock some more.
3:11 I look at the clock and can't decide if it feels earlier or later than 3 p.m. I remember that Greg is off at 5. And he's working at the nearby employee store today, not the airport store. He can get more diapers. Thank God!
3:12 M is crying, and the pacifier isn't working. I decide to nurse her to sleep. I'm pretty desperate for a break.
3:38 I put M back in the swing for a nap and make a quesadilla for lunch.
3:44 I hear M crying. Hope she'll go back to sleep on her own, magically. I wait a minute. It's quiet.
3:46 She starts back up. I think I need to go get her...

  1. Seriously, how do you have the time to write this??? BTW, you're amazing. Wonder Woman's got nothing on what you accomplish.
