It's a...

Greg and I were really undecided about finding out the sex of the baby beforehand. We didn't find out with Ethan, so it felt a little unfair to me to find out with this one. So we had to make the reveal special in some way. With pregnancy insomnia in full swing, I was able to think of a fun idea during my early-morning waking hours :) We decided to have the ultrasound technician write the gender on a notecard and seal it in an envelope. Then we bought an outfit for both a boy and a girl. Finally, we gave everything to our good friend and neighbor, Hilary, who read the notecard, wrapped the correct outfit, and presented it to us to open on date night.

It's exciting to know that this time around, we will know who our baby is beforehand, and have that to look forward to for the next 20ish weeks. It's definitely going to be a different kind of experience, and I think that's good. All of our children will be unique, and hopefully each of them will have a unique story to go with pregnancy and birth.

Off to dinner!

What's it gonna be?

Greg insisted that I be the one to unwrap the gift...

There really is no need to describe how I felt when I saw what was inside...

Yes, those are tears of great joy and surprise!

We are so thrilled to be having a baby girl... those of you who know me know that I always felt like my life would not be complete without a daughter. God knew the desire of my heart, and we feel so lucky and blessed to have such a beautiful son, and to be adding a daughter to our family too. How perfect!

  2. HOORAY! I kept thinking all weekend that I wanted to check your blog but we were moving and I couldn't get on the internet. YAY YAY YAY! What a fun way to find out and those tears for the blessing of a daughter were caught on camera (that's like when I found out Jonas was a boy - I felt like God was answering my prayer for a son). We are so happy for you guys and can't wait to watch your story continue to unfold. Brad's right, it's amazing indeed to watch the father-daughter relationship. Love from us on the east coast to you on the west coast! ~ The Woodalls
