We all know I'm having a girl, and you would think that would automatically lend itself to all things pink, yet somehow I find myself debating between a bedding set that is predominately blue, and one that is definitively pink. Greg wants pink... I want whatever fits my vision of my little girl's room best. See, I designed the whole room in my head, and now I'm just trying to fit the last little piece of the puzzle in... which color should form the centerpiece?
I envision a white crib, dresser and changing table. A little white bookcase in the corner beside a mini wicker rocking chair covered in a pink crocheted afghan made by Mommy, and hanging above all, a framed picture of our little newborn in her sweet flower headband I chose in the hopes I was having a girl. A round wicker hamper. Under the window, a toybox bench complete with frilly pillows. I see blush pink paint on the walls, lacy white curtains at the window, and a delicate pink chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Am I getting carried away? Can you tell I've been dreaming of this for a while? I'm not done...
A fairytale mirror hangs above the dresser, a lamp and a dark chocolate teddy bear with a pink bow round its neck sitting on top beside a vase of flowers. A collection of pink and white frames of varying sizes and shapes, a pink ceramic hand and footprint of baby, and her first initial painted a dark shade of pink are arranged artistically above the changing table. A handmade quilt from Aunt Leslie hangs on the wall, too, just like the one in Ethan's room. And perhaps most girlish of all, a white tulle bed canopy hangs above the crib, sweeping it up in adorable charm.
Now all I have to do is decide which bed set to get. Oh yeah, and find a house with a room for my daughter. That's the easy part ;) Weigh in if you like. I think I may just go with the majority on this one.
My only suggestion is to have a ceiling fan instead of a chandelier. Air circulation is so important in reducing the risk of SIDS. Also, a sheet is all you need since bumpers can pose a suffocation risk. It sounds like her room will be absolutely gorgeous, can't wait to see pictures!
ReplyDeleteIt sound adorable...I love the pink version!
ReplyDeleteI say go for the blue one. The whole cottage-y/quilted look will grow with your future daughter longer than one that emphasizes a specific interest. Also it leaves more room for customization as there are multiple accent colors to choose from. That's my 2 cents. Both are adorable. See you in August!
ReplyDeleteI say go for pink. I did pink for all my girls and now they love pink as well. Pink is so feminine and pretty, even if it is just light pink.
