Brag Time

My little boy astounds me. It's probably just because I haven't been around enough children his age to know what they're capable of, but I like to think of him as my little genius ;)

His learning curve is almost nonexistant. For instance, he learned to blow kisses by watching Nana B do it. Once. He learned to suck from a straw without any lessons at all. Just hand the kid a cup with a straw and he gets it, no messing around. Telling us the horse neighs and the owl hoots seemed to appear out of nowhere, although I know he must have picked it up from all the animal books we read. He LOVES animals. We are toying with the idea of getting him a dog for Christmas. With a two-month-old in the house. I know. We're crazy. But we have wanted one for years, and once we finally have a house with a yard, we feel like we can give it the home it deserves. And it wouldn't be a puppy, but a fully housebroken older dog. I'm not that crazy!

Anyway, back to Ethan. Sometimes he says or does something and we just look at each other in shocked glee, big smiles and sparkling eyes, like, "Wow! That's our kid!" We couldn't be more proud of the little guy. And the fact that everyone tells us how cute he is, how sweet and cuddly and affectionate, how much they miss having him in the nursery now that he's graduated to toddlerhood... well, let's just say it doesn't help our pride. This is definitely the best stage so far, and we know it's only going to get better!
