The Riffenburgh Family Christmas Tree

Have you seen the movie, "Christmas vacation"? For me, it's one of the quintessential Christmas classics. I love to watch it every year and laugh at Clark Griswold's desperate antics, even though I secretly relate to the way he builds things up in his mind and sets his hopes on everything falling perfectly into place. This year, I couldn't help but think about the Griswold Family Christmas as we searched for that perfect tree.
I love traditions. And I love Christmas. One of my favorite things about living up here is all of the farms. Christmas tree farms, apple farms, berry farms, corn mazes, pumpkin patches... you name it. It gives us a chance to create really fun traditions. We like to pick "our" farm and return year after year. We've found favorites in almost every category. This year we settled on our favorite Christmas tree farm. And it is so much fun to go out and cut our own, while the kids run around hiding in the "forest" and trying to keep away from me and my camera ;)

This guy doesn't mess around. I may have cringed at the idea of lugging a chainsaw around, but honestly, who wants to struggle through the trunk of a 7-ft tree with a hacksaw? If you ask for help, those guys certainly aren't wasting their time with one!
