Easter with the Riffs!

We had a fabulous Easter this year, as Greg had Saturday morning off, and all of Sunday — woohoo!!

Saturday morning started out auspiciously enough, with special outfits, a bright, sunny morning and Easter basket in hand. We met friends Chris, Amy and 20-month-old Makayla at Cedar Mills Park for an Easter Egg Hunt at 10am. Unfortunately, in spite of the fact that the website said nothing about it, we were supposed to pre-register! Oh no! I was so embarrassed that I'd invited our friends and it was a bust. Thank goodness I invited our friends, though, because Amy whipped out her phone and looked up info on the hunt at the zoo. In no time at all, the day had been salvaged and we were on our way with the assurance that hunts were taking place every 20 minutes. Plus, we got our year pass to the zoo, perfect for the upcoming nice summer weather, and we got to pet the goats while we were there!

Ethan didn't have to be coached on what to do when he saw a brightly colored plastic egg on the ground!

An animal lover, just like his mommy...

Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures on Easter Sunday, but it was a wonderfully refreshing and restful day for us. We went to the 8 am service as usual, arriving half an hour early in order to ensure we got seats! We left cookies for the childcare workers, working harder than ever on this busy day, and after the service, Greg stayed to shuttle volunteers back and forth from the parking lots located far from church. Ethan and I went home for a nap and I began preparing dinner. I made honey-baked ham (Greg's favorite), as well as creamed corn, spiced sweet potatoes and rolls. For dessert, we had Oregon blackberry pie and ice cream — yum! It was a great day of serving those within our church and reflecting on God's goodness to us. Happy Easter!
