a) We don't have a babysitter.
b) Evenings are the most important time for us to stay in a routine for Ethan, so he will sleep! (someday?)
So, we settled for a trip to the zoo. This is what you do when you have kids.
Ethan started out in the stroller, but woke scared and crying at the strange, loud noises. So he rode with Daddy in the Bjorn. What would we do without it? (Even though it's super sad when Ethan gets scared, it's also—dare I admit it?—kind of cute. He gets this pouty look, his lips just make this great, downturned sad face, then he loses it. Then it gets sad and we save him, fast!)
It was a nice day (Read: not raining. We're speaking relatively here, people. This is Portland, after all.)
We saw animals indigenous to the Pacific Northwest. Then some Asian elephants. There was a baby elephant who did tricks. He gains a pound a day! But I still say he's got nothing on my little monster ;)
I thought he was super cool, but Greg and Ethan were not so interested. Greg looks all intense, but the truth is, he's gazing in the opposite direction of the elephant....

We checked out the African animals, including the usual zebras and giraffes. But we also saw hippos, which I'm pretty sure I've never seen before! (In person, at a zoo, I mean. I've seen them on TV. We don't live under a rock!)
We ate hotdogs, chips, and lots of popcorn. I wanted ice cream, but for once Greg wasn't into it, so I gave it up. It's no fun eating things that are bad for you unless someone will join you.
There were dinosaurs at the zoo too. Really! I don't know why...

At the end of the day, when Ethan was in bed, I gave Greg a back rub and stepped on his spine, which sounds painful, but he really likes it. I think he was a pretty happy daddy ;)
On Sunday, we went to church, and then I made Ethan giggle, A LOT, on the way home. Greg says that made his Father's Day. Who knew that hearing a baby laugh could make you feel like the happiest person in the whole world?
If you don't think it's true, or even if you do, check this video out. It's not our Ethan, but it will kill you. I'll post a video of our Ethan later. It will not be this funny, though. I hope someday we get him to do this. I die laughing every time. I could watch it all day.
