Easter

I love Easter. Love it.

I love the traditions—dying and hunting eggs, filling baskets, enjoying a big dinner. I love giving up something for Lent (this year it was Facebook) and making more space in my life to reflect on Jesus. I love dressing up and going to church to hear again about the greatest gift humanity was ever given.

We had so much fun with Easter this year. Ethan is old enough to enjoy things like dying eggs and hunting for them, plus Greg had the whole weekend off.

First of all, let me share a few pics of our little bunny (she's such a good sport!)...

On Saturday morning, we attended an egg hunt at the park. It was sunny, but it was muddy. Really muddy. I hadn't considered this possibility. Ethan wanted to be down running around, of course. He also wanted to enter the flagged-off area to check out the plastic eggs before the hunt. We ended up holding him a lot... or trying to hold him while he struggled. Read: We got really muddy too. When it was finally time for the hunt, he was more worried about where the Easter bunny had gone. (He didn't want to say hi to the bunny, but he did like watching him.) He wandered around the hunt area while the other kids filled their baskets with eggs. It was pretty funny. We won't be doing that one again ;)

Madeleine just hung out looking adorable.

After stopping at home to change, we joined some friends at Beaverton Christian Church for a little play time.

After lunch and naps, we dyed eggs. Now THAT was fun! Ethan loved watching the eggs change colors. He knows all of his colors now, so it was fun to talk about them. At first, he dropped the eggs in with giant splashes. I realized I should have put newspaper down. We asked him to be gentle. After that, it was smooth sailing. Except when he wanted to put two eggs in one cup. Still, they turned out great. Super fun!

On Sunday we went to church. Can you tell I had fun planning our matching outfits? :)

And especial fun planning my daughter's first Easter outfit? ;)
